Sail for Kids – Sailing with children for a better future
In the summer of 2021, a passion project began for us: „Sail for Kids“. As CEO of CHARTERBAR Yachting and a passionate sailor, together with my wife Steffi I had the vision of giving children who grow up under difficult circumstances the joy of sailing. Thinking of the upcoming sailing trips with my daughter Emilia and the unforgettable moments on the water, the desire grew to share these experiences with others as well – especially with children who are often denied such journeys.
Sailing as an opportunity for underprivileged children
In cooperation with a children's home in Würzburg, our idea began to take shape. It quickly became clear that the project would be more than just a sailing trip. Together with committed partners such as Spreadshirt, GARMIN and Bürstner motorhomes, we were able to secure the first funds to launch „Sail for Kids“.
The first sailing trip: a unique experience
The first trip exceeded all our expectations. Dolphins, starry nights and the sparkle in the children's eyes made this journey an unforgettable experience. Reserved children became a courageous crew who enjoyed life to the fullest. For the caregivers and for us as organizers, it was moving to see how much a sailing trip could make a difference in these children's lives.
Support from partners and sponsors
From the sailing school in2theBlue, which provided us with yachts, to beverage sponsors and supporters who sponsored crew shirts and water bottles – the project was only possible thanks to the generosity of our partners. Private donations, such as from friends and customers, also enabled us to carry out the trip without financial constraints.
Founding the non-profit organization „Sail for Kids“
The response was so positive that we decided to establish „Sail for Kids“ as a non-profit organization. This allows us to give even more disadvantaged children the opportunity to experience the freedom of sailing in the future. Since its founding, we have already been able to organize several trips with children. Planning for the next trips is in full swing.
